Ex-Con Returns to the Scene of the Crime…15 Years Later

TOMS RIVER, NJ (March 22, 2014) — Christopher MillerAuthorities say a New Jersey man fresh out of prison for robbing a shoe store 15 years ago went back to the same store on the day of his release and tried it again.

Toms River, NJ, police said that last Saturday afternoon, Christopher Miller went to a shoe store and demanded cash from the two employees. He eventually took the whole cash register with $389 inside and fled on foot.

Police tracked him down quickly enough. They found the employee’s cell phones in a shopping center trash can and the money was stashed in a downspout in the back of a building.

What makes this such a DUMB CRIME is that Miller had just gotten out of prison that very same day after serving a 15-year sentence for robbing the very same store back in 1999.

Miller, 40, reportedly took a bus in Atlantic City after being released, rode 50 miles upstate, and re-enacted his original crime. But he got the same result.

He was charged with robbery and is being held at the Ocean County jail on $100,000 bail.
