A Florida girl found herself in jail after a school prank didn’t go over as planned.
Breana Evans, 12, of Longwood, Fla., admits that she pinched a boy’s buttocks. However, she says it was all a joke.
But the boy complained to school officials, who alerted the boy’s mother. The boy’s mother then asked to press battery charges against the girl.
In an interview with ABC13, the girl’s father said the arrested deputy told him that he didn’t want to arrest the girl.
“That’s what the deputy told me,” Ray Evans said. “He said, ‘I don’t even want to do this.’ That’s what the deputy said. ‘But I have to do what I have to do.'”
Breana told the TV reporter: “I regret it because I didn’t know it would lead to this.”
The girl was booked into juvenile detention and charged with misdemeanor battery. Prosecutors say the charge will be dismissed and her record expunged if the girl completes a diversion program, including community service and passing drug tests.
