Louisiana authorities have arrested an assistant principal for allegedly paddling a teacher. A female teacher, in fact.
Hugo Vogel, who works at Frankie Ray Jackson Sr. Technical Center in Natchitoches, is accused of striking the female teacher on the buttocks on February 10, 2015. The teacher complained to the school’s resource officer and asked to file criminal charges.
The incident was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Natchitoches Police Department, and he was arrested Monday, April 13, 2015. Police went to the school to arrest Vogel.
The 64-year-old suspect, a resident of Goldonna, was charged with simple battery and later released on bond. The school system placed Vogel on paid leave but allowed him to return to work since the charge is a misdemeanor.
A motive for the paddling was not disclosed by law enforcement.
The school serves four distinct groups of students, including those in a one-year remediation program to earn their high school diplomas, students in the Accelerated Student Academic Pathway program, students with special needs or disabilities and students that may have been expelled from their home schools.
