In a real-life Hansel & Gretel tale, a Minnesota woman left her neighbors anonymous notes threatening to taste and lick their children, authorities said.

Police say Carrie Pernula was upset because the young children were noisy and left items in her yard. She was arrested Friday (Oct. 16, 2015) on possible charges of gross misdemeanor terroristic threats and stalking.

The family was terrified and called Champlin police and posted the note on a community Facebook page.

But the harassment continued when they received magazine subscriptions they didn’t order. The labels said “tasty children,” among other names, police said.

The magazines were traced to Pernula, leading to her arrest.

Champlin police told reporters that the notes created a near panic in the community. “In this case they went way beyond the bounds of what should be done,” a spokesman said.

Pernula reportedly told investigators that the notes were done because the children were “always putting stuff on her porch.”
