Ohio Man Robs Bank with Shoe Polish on Face

An Ohio man — known as the “Shoe Polish Robber” — was arrested June 28 after authorities received tips about the identity of the oddly-dressed thief.
Jonathan Black, 44, has been charged in the May 31st robbery of Fifth Third Bank in Middleburg Heights. He is also accused of threatening tellers with a gun, the FBI said.
Surveillance photos show the robber wearing what appears to be black shoe polish all over his face. Authorities say he robbed two tellers at gunpoint, but no one was injured.
The FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force and Middleburg Heights police arrested Black on June 26 on a warrant for misuse of a credit card and receiving stolen property. Soon after, the tips about the robbery helped identify Black as the “Shoe Polish Robber..
Authorities were subsequently able to corroborate that information, the FBI said.
