A South Carolina woman is accused of shoving her child and baby stroller at a Belk employee in Rock Hill to prevent her arrest for shoplifting.

Linda Ganson Thompson, 46, of Lancaster, was approached by an employee at Belk on Dec. 4 for swiping jewelry and other merchandise and hiding them in a Belk bag placed in the stroller.
According to police, a Belk employee went after Thompson as the suspect walked into the parking lot. That’s when Thompson pushed the baby stroller toward him, forcing him to grab the baby to keep the stroller from rolling into the road.
The employee was able to recover and detain Thompson until police arrived. She was charged with shoplifting 3rd offense,  property crime enhancement, and false information to police.
The woman has a history of crime from 1986, with charges for larceny, forgery, financial identity fraud, burglary, and accessory after the fact to a felony.
