A Michigan man who was wanted for sex charges in another state was popped while applying for a job at a sheriff’s department.

John Wesley Rose, 25, initially applied in September 2015 for a job as officer with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. As part of the process, the agency conducted a background check and discovered Rose was wanted for sexual abuse, sodomy and rape in Madison County, Kentucky.

Authorities say the warrants had not been entered into the system when Rose originally applied in September. When the warrants did enter and they became aware, Wayne County authorities asked Rose to return to complete paperwork. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 officers arrested the officer candidate.

When Rose appeared before a Wayne Circuit Court Judge, he waived his right to an extradition hearing.
